A "Celestial" Blessing Bowl

Dec 11, 2023

A Blessing Bowl for Cleansing, no matter what season we are in. Cleansing, Releasing, Reconciling - is an important step for any ritual, and it can be a vital practice in and of itself. As Healers, Shamans, Witches, Seers, etc., we need to be aware of the energies around us, so frequent energy cleansing may just become part of your daily routine.

Cleansing is an important part of any practice. As we learn to work with subtle energies, it's vital to keep things clear. There are so Many ways to cleanse, let's snap to it!

Whenever things, or life feels like it's not flowing freely, I know it's time to cleanse. Whether it is myself, my space, my tools, an object, my environment, the people around me, places, things - instead of worrying about having an "energy marker," a faulty "zone," bad luck or even thinking that the Universe is out to get me (it doesn't), I have learned that it's probably just been WAY to long , since I have spent time to dust off the energetic debris that may have settled in around me.

Cleansing, like physical cleaning - can often become a step that we easily forget or maybe we become a 'procrastinator.' However, we always feel energetic Bliss when we are done. The part that is humorous, its that it's way easy to do, along with a plethora of different cleansing techniques. I'll cover just a few here, then get to the "Celestial" Blessing Bowl.

What is energetic cleansing?

Often, energetic cleansing refers to the removal of negative, toxic debris or unwanted energy from an object, environment or person, Some people view cleansing as the removal of all energy, returning to the zone of neutrality. It's truly about our hearts intention. A celestial wishing tree. Either way, it's always a great idea to follow cleansing, with also charging - so that, you're telling the object, environment, person or thang what energy you want to invite in, once it's free from harmful energies.

There are a ton of ways to do this, but with all the things, what you intend and believe will ultimately determine the strength of the intentions energy. Choose the cleansing method that feels the best to you and is also safe for the occasion.

You may find that you want to cleanse yourself, an "energetic subtle-body cleanse," on a regular basis. You can do this as part of your shower, or add a cleansing ritual to your bath, even with the ebb and flow of the moon. Crafting a personal Salt Scrub Blend to go with the Moon (Check out the Moon Blends on my Resource Page).

Similarly, you can energetically cleanse your space, your home every time you tidy it up a bit. Or save the energetic cleansing for those specific times of the Moon's Cycle. I usually do this during the Waning Cresent Phase. However, you can also combine physical and energetic cleansing by creating your own moon blend essential oil room or cleansing spray

When it comes to cleansing objects, tools - sacred space, you may feel it to be an essential part to cleanse objects right away when they are brought into your home to remove the debris of energy, from all the people and places it has come into contact with before it arrived at your door. After that, I tend to cleanse objects as needed. For example, my divination tools - if I feel as if they aren't giving me any accurate reads, I know it is time to cleanse them.

visualization

Visualization comes into play with all these methods, however - you can cleanse with visualization alone. All that is necessary is that you close your eyes, concentrate on all the negative energy leaving the very thing you are cleansing. I tend to bring in a Stream of Color (Scalar Waves), whatever color you are drawn to and feels the most powerful. Channel your energy into the thing being cleansed with the intention that all harmful energies be dissipated or dispelled. Once you feel the energy shift, your visualization is complete.

cleansing crystals

Doing a crystal cleansing is super easy and safe for all objects The only catch is whether or not you have that specific crystal. Place the crystal or crystals on or around your object for as long as you feel is needed, along with the intention that the crystal draws out any and all harmful energies. I actually sleep with a large selenite on my nightstand.  Using crystals for cleansing my "tools" - as I know this won't physically damage them in any way.

There are a variety of crystals with cleansing properties. The energy varies slightly, do a little crystal reflection to choose the one that best fits your situation. Some of my Favorites:

  • Selenite (Iceland spar)
  • Orange Calcite
  • Citrine (Green is nice)
  • Bloodstone
  • Tourmaline
  • Amber
  • Flourite
  • Clear Quartz

Smoke Cleansing

I prefer smoke cleansing, whether I use incense sticks, bundles of herbs - for cleansing my home, sacred space or objects. Smoke from any incense or herb can be cleansing, use what feels right for you. If you find burning bundles to be a little over-kill, use an incense stick.

You can also create your own loose incense from herbs you buy, or grow, or even from foraging. As with everything, intention is everything. Less about what you use, and more about how it's used.

If you are cleansing space, all you need to do is carry the smoking object around the space. allow the smoke to waft into all the corners, visualizing it carrying away any and all unwanted energy. To cleanse an object with smoke, simply pass the object through the smoke a few times, until you feel like it is clear.

Some cleansing herbs include:

  • Sage
  • Cedar
  • Thyme
  • Rosemary
  • Eucalyptus
  • Pine

*** The most well-known form of smoke cleansing is White Sage, if you choose this method, be sure the source is ethical - along with supportive of indigenous communities. Traveling Sage works just as well.

Now for the "Celestial" Blessing Bowl, this is great to use for a variety of purposes. These herbs can be spread across your floor, then added to the fire as a way to cleanse the space. I feel creativity is the key, and there are no rules. When you are ready to clear the pathway, remove negative or unhelpful energies, its time to call upon these magical herbs for cleansing and blessing. They assist in helping to release what is no longer serving you and to open doors, creating sacred space for what does.

Cleansing and Blessing is an important ritual to practice. Often, we need to be aware of the energy that is surrounding us, so doing a frequent blessing bowl - a cleansing, may just be a regular part of your personal ritual routine.

Below you will see a variety of herbs, everything from trees to common spices and herbs in your kitchen pantry. Some of them, you may even want to use in the form of an essential oil. Even at other times, you may want to be working with the branches , leaves, roots or even powders. Just know that all forms carry the 'spirit' of the plant, the essential energy. Use what fits you the best. Also, this is not an overwhelming list, its just hitting the base notes.

Also, as a caution - double check what is safe for you to consume, inhale or even put on your skin. Sometimes common kitchen herbs can interfere with certain conditions, so make sure you're being safe before you put something in or on your body.

  • Angelica - Use this to call in protection and purification from your guardian angels
  • Basil - Not just for prosperity and success, also for purification
  • Birch - Used as a broom or besom, made from birch twigs can be used to energetically cleanse the home

Take what you like and create your Celestial Blessing Bowl . . . draw a line at your front door, spread through your house after cleansing, allow the fragrances to emanate - for 24 hours if you can. Then sweep up the herbs, burn them in a fire, allow the smoke to rise. Offer them to nature, blessing your space.

You can also create a Cleansing Smoke, a cleansing tea, a charm or protection bag, a floor wash ( add moon water to bring in added power), or a cleansing room spray. You could even create pots with some of these herbs, connecting with the Nature Spirits.
