The Art of Choosing Yourself

Libra New Moon | Restoring Harmony Without Abandoning Who You Are

October 10, 2026 | 17° Libra

What if the peace you've been working so hard to maintain has come at the expense of your own?

What if you've become so accustomed to considering everyone else's needs, feelings and expectations that you've forgotten to ask yourself a simple question:

What do I need?

The Libra New Moon invites us to explore the sacred art of balance, but perhaps not in the way we've been taught.

Libra is often associated with beauty, partnership, harmony and diplomacy.

But genuine harmony isn't the absence of disagreement.

It isn't keeping everyone happy.

And it certainly isn't making ourselves smaller so that others can feel comfortable.

True harmony makes room for everyone involved—including you.

As we gather beneath the Libra New Moon on October 10, we're invited to reconsider what it means to belong, to love and to create relationships that honor the people we're becoming.

And perhaps the most important relationship we'll explore is the one we have with ourselves.

🌸 The Journey From Aries to Libra

Over these past Sacred Spirit Circles, an unexpected journey has been unfolding.

β˜€οΈ Leo — The light remains.

🌊 Pisces — The love remains.

🌱 Virgo — Tend what remains.

πŸ”₯ Aries — The spark remains.

And now Libra whispers:

βš–οΈ Let yourself belong.

There's something beautiful about moving from the Aries Full Moon into the Libra New Moon.

Aries reminded us that we're allowed to want again.

That our desires matter.

That the spark of life within us deserves to be acknowledged.

Libra now asks:

Can I honor my desires while remaining open to love and connection?

Can I be fully myself within a relationship?

Can I communicate my needs without feeling guilty?

Can I allow someone else to have their own experience without abandoning mine?

And can I create harmony that includes my own well-being?

These questions bring us to the heart of this New Moon.

βš–οΈ The Libra New Moon: The Sacred Mirror

At approximately 17 degrees of Libra, the Sun and Moon come together to begin a new lunar cycle.

Symbolically, Libra represents the relationship between self and other.

It reminds us that relationships can become mirrors through which we discover ourselves.

Sometimes those reflections are beautiful.

Sometimes they're uncomfortable.

Sometimes they reveal patterns we've carried for years without recognizing them.

Perhaps you've learned to equate being needed with being loved.

Perhaps you've become the person everyone depends upon.

Perhaps you've learned to keep the peace by avoiding difficult conversations.

Or perhaps you've become so skilled at accommodating others that you no longer know what you genuinely prefer.

The Libra New Moon invites us to examine those patterns without judgment.

Because the mirror is not our identity.

The mirror offers information. We get to decide what we do with the reflection.

And sometimes the most loving choice we can make is to stop abandoning ourselves in the name of harmony.

πŸ¦‚ Venus Retrograde in Scorpio: What Does Love Mean Now?

Venus, the planetary ruler of Libra, is retrograde in Scorpio during this New Moon.

In astrology, Venus symbolizes love, relationships, beauty, pleasure and personal values.

Scorpio invites us beneath the surface, toward emotional honesty, intimacy and transformation.

Venus retrograde offers a symbolic opportunity to revisit the stories we've told ourselves about love.

What have our relationships taught us?

Where have we confused loyalty with obligation?

Where have we mistaken attachment for intimacy?

And where have we measured our worth by how much we could give?

These aren't always comfortable questions.

But they can be profoundly illuminating.

Sometimes transformation changes what we value.

Something we once wanted may no longer feel aligned.

A relationship that once fit may require new boundaries.

A familiar pattern may no longer reflect the person we're becoming.

And that's worth acknowledging.

Love can be generous without being self-erasing.

Intimacy can be profound without requiring us to surrender our identity.

And choosing ourselves doesn't automatically mean rejecting someone else.

Perhaps this Venus retrograde isn't asking us to return to the past.

Perhaps it's inviting us to understand what the past has taught us about the love we wish to experience now.

πŸ”₯ Mars in Leo: The Courage to Be Seen

Mars in Leo forms a square to Venus in Scorpio, introducing another layer to this New Moon.

Venus in Scorpio symbolizes the desire for emotional depth and trust.

Mars in Leo symbolizes the desire for creativity, expression and the freedom to live from the heart.

One asks:

Can I trust you with the deepest parts of me?

The other asks:

Can I still be fully myself in your presence?

Both questions matter.

A relationship can offer emotional closeness while still allowing each person room to grow.

And expressing our individuality doesn't have to mean disregarding the needs of others.

This is where Libra's wisdom becomes especially valuable.

We can speak honestly without becoming cruel.

We can establish boundaries without punishing others.

We can choose ourselves without making another person the enemy.

The goal isn't to win the relationship.

It's to remain present within it.

πŸͺ Saturn Retrograde in Aries: I AM and WE ARE

Saturn retrograde in Aries brings us back to the relationship between individuality and partnership.

Aries declares:

I AM.

Libra responds:

WE ARE.

And Saturn symbolically asks us to take responsibility for how we navigate the space between them.

Healthy relationships require more than affection.

They also require communication, consistency, accountability and boundaries.

We cannot expect another person to understand needs we've never expressed.

And we cannot build lasting harmony by repeatedly agreeing to things that create resentment.

Sometimes the most important act of love is an honest conversation.

Sometimes it's recognizing that another person's disappointment doesn't automatically mean we've done something wrong.

And sometimes it's learning that we can care deeply about someone's feelings without becoming responsible for managing every one of them.

Their feelings matter. And so do ours.

🌬️ Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius: A New Way of Belonging

With Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius, the air element adds another symbolic dimension to this New Moon.

Uranus in Gemini invites us to reconsider familiar ideas and explore different ways of communicating.

Pluto in Aquarius brings themes of collective transformation, community, power and belonging.

Together with Libra, these placements inspire some meaningful questions.

What if belonging doesn't require conformity?

What if we can remain connected even when we disagree?

What if our relationships and communities can make room for individuality rather than demanding sameness?

Perhaps we're being invited to create something different.

Relationships rooted in curiosity rather than assumption.

Communities that value authenticity rather than performance.

Connections that allow each person to change and grow.

We don't need identical reflections to recognize one another's humanity.

✨ Jupiter in Leo: Making Room for Joy

Jupiter in Leo adds warmth, generosity and creativity to the symbolism of this New Moon.

And I think that's an important reminder.

We don't have to wait until every relationship is resolved before allowing ourselves to experience something beautiful.

We don't have to earn our right to create.

We don't have to wait for life to become perfectly balanced before enjoying it.

Sometimes joy is simply another expression of our willingness to participate in life.

And sometimes choosing ourselves looks like doing something purely because it makes our hearts happy.

Beauty can coexist with difficulty.

Joy can coexist with grief.

And love can coexist with the need for change.

πŸͺž Recognize → Reclaim → Rebalance

For this Libra New Moon, our Sacred Spirit Circle centers on three movements.

1. RECOGNIZE

Where have you abandoned yourself to maintain harmony?

Notice the patterns without judging yourself.

Recognize where you've given freely and where you've given out of fear, guilt or obligation.

Affirmation: I recognize the places where I have forgotten myself.

2. RECLAIM

What part of you is asking to be welcomed home?

Perhaps it's your voice.

Your independence.

Your creativity.

Your confidence.

Your ability to receive.

Or your willingness to establish boundaries.

Affirmation: I reclaim my place in my own life.

3. REBALANCE

What is one choice you can make that honors both your truth and your capacity to love?

It doesn't need to be a dramatic decision.

Perhaps it's a conversation.

A boundary.

A request for support.

Or simply giving yourself permission to have a preference.

Affirmation: I choose harmony that includes me.

πŸ•―οΈ The Sacred Scales New Moon Ritual

For this ritual, gather a candle, a bowl of water, two small stones or meaningful objects, and a piece of paper.

Light your candle and place your objects before you.

The first stone represents the energy you've given to others.

Hold it and acknowledge the ways you've offered your love, attention, time and care.

Ask:

Where have I abandoned myself to maintain harmony?

Place the stone to your left.

Now hold the second stone.

This one represents you.

Your needs.

Your desires.

Your voice.

Your boundaries.

Your right to take up space.

Ask:

What part of me am I ready to reclaim?

Place this stone to your right.

Imagine both stones resting upon a beautiful pair of golden scales.

Notice that neither needs to disappear for balance to exist.

Both have a place.

The relationship has a place.

And so do you.

On your paper, write one choice you're willing to make during this lunar cycle.

Then say:

I recognize.

I reclaim.

I rebalance.

I choose harmony that includes me.

Touch the water and gently place your hand over your heart.

Allow this to become a promise to yourself:

I will not disappear from the life I am creating.

πŸŒ‘ The Art of Choosing Yourself

Perhaps choosing yourself isn't always a dramatic declaration.

Perhaps it doesn't require ending a relationship, changing your entire life or making a grand announcement.

Sometimes choosing yourself is much quieter.

It's telling the truth.

Asking for help.

Allowing yourself to rest.

Making a decision without seeking everyone's approval.

Letting someone love you without feeling obligated to earn it.

And remembering that your needs deserve a place in the relationships you cherish.

As we move through this Libra New Moon, may we discover that genuine harmony isn't something we achieve by becoming less of ourselves.

It's something we cultivate by bringing our authentic selves into the relationships and communities we create.

β˜€οΈ The light remains.

🌊 The love remains.

🌱 Tend what remains.

πŸ”₯ The spark remains.

βš–οΈ And now, let yourself belong.

May you find harmony without silencing your truth.

May you welcome love without abandoning yourself.

And may you remember that you, too, belong in the life you are creating.
