Novel Tips to Keep Your Skin Hydrated

Oct 23, 2025

Each season has its own specific energy that creates conditions affecting how we feel and look. In the Fall, the energy of the Metal element dominates. It governs the lungs and large intestine. Proper lung action is critical in getting the oxygen we need to feed all our cells and tissues. It is particularly true as we age. During the Fall, we need to load up on minerals in preparation for the Winter to keep our skin well hydrated.

Deficient Metal energy causes a lack of minerals resulting in skin surface dehydration. Poor oxygenation shows up as dull, lifeless facial skin, possibly with puffiness and congestion. It’s made worse by smoking.

The PHYTO5® Metal energetic line has mineralizing and anti-inflammatory properties, increases fluid circulation, promotes oxygenation of skin, diminishes swelling and puffiness, and rehydrates and rejuvenates the skin. Complete with non-stripping cleansers, emollient moisturizers and nourishing clay mask, PHYTO5® Metal energetic line is specifically formulated to effectively address skin dehydration. The Metal Body Gel is a balancing gel recommended for use on the legs for anyone with sluggish circulation in the legs. It is also recommended for use when flying, particularly on long flights.

In keeping with a truly holistic lifestyle, combine your PHYTO5® Metal energetic line regimen with healthy habits that will support your PHYTO5® nourished skin.

The goal is to go into Winter when our skin will meet enormous dehydration challenges with skin that’s vibrant, nourished, and well hydrated.

Here are several more ways to keep your skin balanced during the Fall energetic season:

  1. We all already know to drink water, but what about drinking coconut water? Charged with electrolytes, it protects the skin against oxidative damage.
  2. Add a pinch of sea salt (not regular table salt) to your water or place a flake of sea salt on your tongue daily. With more than 80 minerals, it will enhance water absorption.
  3. Eat high water content produce, the juicier the better. Eat watermelon, apples, and berries, to name a few.
  4. Consume dark leafy greens. The phyto-chemicals they contain help hydrate your skin.
  5. Place bowls of water in air conditioned rooms you spend a good deal of time in or operate a humidifier in your home to help keep the air moist. The bedroom is a great place since we spend so much time in that room.
  6. Keep the temperature in your environment as even as possible.
  7. Some plants transpire and increase water vapor in the air. Get a Boston palm, bamboo fern, or ficus plant for your bedroom.
  8. Shower in tepid water rather than hot and keep the shower time down to ten minutes or less.
  9. Make an herbal mister with essential oils to hydrate your face now and then throughout the day.
  10. Substitute your morning latte for green tea or warm water with lemon.
  11. Eat foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids; they limit water loss in the skin cells. Add olive oil, flaxseed oil or Udos oil to your smoothie! Eat high quality raw nuts and seeds.
  12. Refrain from eating foods with refined sugar which dehydrates skin. Restrict your alcohol intake also. Alcohol is dehydrating. Caffeine also inhibits hydration of the skin.
  13. Lighten your use of make-up which can be drying.
  14. Certain essential oils are absolutely essential, no pun intended, for effective rehydrating skincare. Let PHYTO5® take the guesswork out of it for you with products that are carefully formulated with just the right blends of essential oils for the season.

Many of the tips above are not only good for the skin but for your whole system. If your skin is dehydrated, you’re probably internally dehydrated also. Dehydration is a very common yet all too often undiagnosed cause of fatigue, headaches and digestive problems.
